Our Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, use and disclose Personal Data and Non-Personal Data that we collect from and about you when you use or access our website online or on mobile. 

The purpose of our privacy policy is to inform users of our site what personal data we will collect as well as the following information, where applicable:

Our Privacy Policy operates alongside our site Terms of Use.  

Applicable laws

This policy complies with the laws set out in the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) at the federal level and Law 25 monitored by Commission for access to information, in Quebec.  

For residents of EU countries, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) governs all data protection policies, regardless of where the site is located. This privacy policy aims to comply with the GDPR. If there are inconsistencies between this policy and the GDPR, the GDPR will apply.  

For residents of the State of California, this privacy policy is intended to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). If there are inconsistencies between this document and the CCPA, state law will apply. If we find any inconsistencies, we will amend our policy to comply with the relevant law.

Personal data we collect

If you use the forms on our site, this information will be recorded. In addition, this information will be used to contact you later, either to respond to your message or for promotional purposes. You can request to be removed from our promotional lists at any time using the link at the bottom of our promotional emails. Please note that you cannot unsubscribe from transactional emails, as we are legally required to send these to you. This information may also be used for statistical purposes (anonymous) to allow us to better understand your needs.

We will not collect additional data without first informing you.

Who do we share your data with?

The employees ofKimfu have access to and use the data (such as your profile) as part of their work. Access to data is governed by an internal security policy and data access rights are limited to those for whom access is required to carry out their normal activity.

 

How long do we keep your data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is how we can automatically recognize and approve all follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who apply for membership, we also retain the personal information entered in their member profile. All members can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time. Spira employees can also view and edit this information. We keep the data recorded in your profile as long as it exists. 

 

How we protect your personal data?

All private data that is stored in our system is secure and is only accessible to our employees. Our employees are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and a violation of this agreement would result in termination of the employee.

While we take every reasonable precaution to ensure that our user data is secure and users are protected, there always remains a risk of harm. The Internet as a whole can be, at times, insecure and therefore we are unable to guarantee the security of user data beyond what is reasonably practical.

What rights do you have over your data?

If you have a member profile in our IT system, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data that we are obliged to retain for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Where do we send your data?

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Your data may also be transmitted to marketing services and tools such as Google Analytics or others. 

If you do not wish to receive such personalized advertisements, you can unsubscribe: 

  • by changing your settings on the social media services you use,

  • by configuring the advertising services of the sites you browse (for example via Google's advertising preferences manager).
